WHO IS C.A.G.A.?

The Board of Directors of C.A.G.A. are:

President
Gwen Davies (Alberta)

Gwen Davies from Calgary, Alberta is President of CAGA. She has been a right leg below knee amputee since she was three, when her leg was amputated due to congenital problems. However, in a very recent revision, she had her right knee removed. Gwen is very active in amputee golf, playing in tournaments at the local, provincial, national and international level. She holds the title of Canadian Ladies Amputee Golf Champion, which she won in 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.  She won the Ladies British Amputee Open in 1995. Gwen was the Ladies runner-up at the First World series of Golf in Australia in 1996 and won the Second World series event in 2002. For many years Gwen was involved in the leasing and management of shopping centres in Western Canada, more particularly Alberta.

Vice President
Ron Versteegen (Ontario)

Ron Versteegen lives in London, Ontario with his lovely wife Wanda.  Ron is a below knee amputee that lost his foot in 1994, as a result of Osteomyelitis.  Ron claims that his golf game actually "improved" after his sugery, (although the jury is still out on this one).  Ron works for the County of Oxford as a Land Use Planner.  In his spare time, Ron spends most of the time at the golf course, (much to the chagrin of most of the Greenhills members) as well as singing the praises of his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.  Ron enjoys attending CANO tournaments every year to see old friends from across the country as well as be a part of the great camaraderie that exists between players.

Director at Large
Bob MacDermott (Alberta)

Bob MacDermott, Director at Large, is a triple amputee, having lost his left arm below the elbow, his leg below the knee and his right thumb when he was injured in an electrical accident and an ambulance accident on route to the hospital.  Bob was a golfer prior to his accident, but has improved his game even more since then and currently sports a 2 golf factor.

Director at Large
Daniel Lefebvre (Quebec)

Daniel's mother was hit by a car when she was pregnant and, as a result, when Daniel was born, he had congenital problems with his hip. This resulted in a series of nine operations to attempt to solve the problem. Unfortunately good results were not to be had and, at the age of nine, Daniel had his leg amputated. This certainly hasn't affected his golf game, as Daniel currently has a golf index of around 5 - 6. Daniel has one daughter and is a Maintenance Superintendent, currently working in Trois Rivieres at a seniors' nursing home.

Secretary
Glenn Cassidy (Saskatchewan)

In 1997 after a series of unfortunate medical events due to a hereditary blood, condition, Glenn had a below-knee amputation of his right leg. The one thing that kept him fighting after was his love of golf – within 2 months he was back on the course. His prosthetician introduced him to the CAGA organization in 2003 where he played his first amputee tournament in Winnipeg, MB. He was very impressed by all the players and their enthusiasm for the game, as well as the caliber of golf. He has tried to make as many tournaments as possible in the years since, and co-hosted the Canadian Open in Saskatoon in 2007.

Off the course, Glenn keeps himself tremendously busy with his career at SIAST as Systems Analyst. Glenn is an avid believer in supporting family and friends, and values those moments that he can spend with them.

Director at Large
Clint Wells (Manitoba)

Clint is a BK who lives in Deloraine, Manitoba - an agricultural community. He married Tannis in 1979 and they have two daughters, Tara and Melissa. Clint lost his leg in a grain elevator accident in 1980. He is GMO for Agricore United in Deloraine. His interests are golfing, hunting, camping and sports. Tannis says too many hobbies! Clint is hoping to draw more interest in amputee golf from Manitoba amputees.
