Trois Rivieres - Dan Cox has golfed many courses in his life, something like 400 courses around the planet. The Canadian Amputee Golf Championship presented this week by Le Marthelinois really impressed this golfer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA. It is without a doubt, the director Richard Saint-Germain, classes this course - part of Sainte-Marthe-du-Cap sector - in his top 20. Many compliments were extended to the staff of Le Marthelinois Course and the Organizing Committee yesterday, and again today, the last day of play. Cox noted he appreciated the effort the people made to understand his poorly spoken French.

Paul Hebert from Alberta had very good words for his fellow golfers. "All the people who are here today are over their pain, have healed and have rediscovered their love for life" he declared.

Obviously all the positive comments have delighted the President of the Organizing Committe, Daniel Lefebvre. "I'm very satisfied with the remarkable work my organizing committee has done. The players comments are very positive, they appreciated our reception, had a lot of fun and were very happy they came" he added.

The director of Le Marthelinois, Richard Saint-Germain, emphasized that hosting such a huge event is where a golf club acquires history.

Getting back to the issue of the last competitive round yesterday, Dan Cox took the honours of overall winner in the Canadian National Amputee Golf Championship. Daniel Lefebvre from Trois Rivieres, achieved his goal of winning first place in the Above Knee category and playing three rounds under 100.

Cox (230) finished only one stroke ahead of his rival - last year's champion - Alberta's Bob MacDermott (231). Dan also won his category - Below Knee Senior - as well as overall champion. Bob MacDermott won in the multiple category. Besides MacDermott, the next best score came from a Below Knee golfer, Dallas Smith from British Columbia, who finished third overall behind Cox and MacDermott, with a 237. He finished first in his category - Below Knee. The fourth overall winner was Dan Hewitt (Alberta) also with a 237. He also won his category - Below Knee Super Senior (60 yrs plus). Smith finished in front of Hewitt by retrogression, playing 24 in his last six holes compared to Hewitt having 25. First place in the Below Elbow category was Kristian Hammerback of Winnipeg with 239, putting him fifth overall. Daniel Lefebvre (282) finished first in the Above Knee category, thankful for rounds of 96, 87 and 99. Paul Hebert finished with a 288, thankful for rounds of 94, 98 and 96.
